First time visiting his place, and he asked me to take an Uber because he lived in a new site that was difficult to access with public transport. I called him when I was on my way to his place. It was around 9 p.m., and the place was dark. We got to a black gate, and I asked if that was his house because the location he sent kept telling me I had reached my destination.

He said, “Yeah, the black gate. That’s exactly the house.” I asked him to come out to meet me, and he said I should just enter and go straight to the hall. I entered and met a man who said he didn’t know who I was asking for. Luckily for me, the Uber hadn’t left. I jumped back in and asked my boyfriend to come out because we were lost.
He said, “If you’re doing all that for me to come out and pay the Uber, please, I don’t have money ooo. Pay him; I will pay later.”
I was lost, frustrated, and scared in the dark, but this guy was thinking about how I was going to ask him to pay the Uber. I told the driver to drive me back to where he picked me up.
On my way, he called several times; I didn’t answer. He texted, “Are you actually lost, or are you just waiting for me to pay the Uber?”
I didn’t respond. I went home, opened my door, turned the AC on, and slept. I woke up to eighteen missed calls, a voice note, and nine messages, all of them asking me where I was and if I had been kidnapped.

I blocked his number, and that was the end for me. My security was at stake. I had entered an unknown house because I was lost. Had it not been the Uber driver who stayed longer than expected, what would have become of me? Just because he didn’t want to pay for my Uber. Smh.
