Women in Dangguruk community, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State on Thursday took decisive action against alcohol abuse, seizing and setting ablaze large quantities of alcoholic drinks during a community-led crackdown.
The protest targeted koskolo, cheskela, and other locally brewed beverages which the women claimed have contributed to growing irresponsibility, disorder, and hardship within families in the communities.
With chants of “No going back, koskolo must stop,” the women marched through the community, moving from one shop to another as they seized cartons, kegs, and containers of alcohol before publicly burning them.
