According to him, following a report from the community leader, police officers in the area went to the scene and found the victim lying in a pool of her blood with severe abdominal injuries.

He said the victim was rushed to the hospital where she finally d!ed.

The PPRO added that the suspect is currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation before being charged to court for alleged culpable homicide.

The police spokesman also stated that the Commissioner of Police commended officers in the Dan Magaji area for their prompt and professional response after receiving the report of the incident.

Speaking to Daily Trust, the husband of both women, Salisu Haruna, a petrol trader in Gwargwaje, said the deceased had been instrumental in arranging his marriage to the suspect.

“The incident is particularly painful because it was the deceased who facilitated my marriage to the woman who eventually became the cause of her death,” he said.

He explained that the suspect is originally from Kano and was brought to the area by her mother.

“She and her mother were tenants here. By the will of God, I married her, not knowing she would become the cause of the d3ath of the mother of my children,” he added..

Haruna accused the suspect of being too suspicious which was part of the reason for her action.

“Once her child cries, she will suspect that somebody, especially from the senior wife’s room, beat him, and she will react furiously,” he explained.

Sources told the publication that the dispute reportedly stemmed from the sharing of Sallah meat, with the suspect allegedly accusing the senior wife’s children of receiving a larger share than her own child.

The sources further claimed that the suspect had a history of becoming involved in disputes over minor issues, particularly involving children, while the deceased was known for her patience and peaceful relationship with members of the community.

The deceased had been married to her husband for many years with eight children and grandchildren.
