Lagos police dismisses reports of planned bandit attacks on schools

The Lagos State Police Command has assured parents, guardians, school authorities, and all residents that there is presently no verified intelligence indicating any imminent threat of any attack within Lagos State. 

 

The Lagos State Police Command has reassured the public that there is no verified intelligence indicating any imminent threat of a bandit attack on schools within the state.

 

The assurance followed widespread panic caused by a threatening notice allegedly pasted on a school wall, which claimed bandits were planning to launch attacks and abduct pupils.

 

In a press statement issued on Monday, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, urged parents, guardians, school authorities, and residents to remain calm and avoid panic, emphasizing that law enforcement treats all security concerns with the utmost seriousness.

“The Command wishes to reassure parents, guardians, school authorities, and all residents that there is presently no verified intelligence indicating any imminent threat of such an attack within Lagos State,” the statement read.

 

CP Fatai disclosed that he has ordered an immediate assessment of the situation. He has also directed the implementation of watertight security measures across the affected areas and other strategic locations throughout Lagos State.

 

To guarantee public safety, police personnel have been deployed in close collaboration with sister security agencies to fortify schools, protect critical national infrastructure, and secure local communities.

 

The command will not tolerate any attempt by miscreants, bandits, k!dnappers, or other criminal elements to threaten the peace and safety of residents. Any individual or group found engaging in acts capable of causing fear, panic, or insecurity will be decisively dealt with in accordance with the law.”

He encouraged residents of the state to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies with timely and credible information.
