Political analyst and former presidential aide Phrank Shaibu has said former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has consistently demonstrated religious tolerance and inclusiveness in both his personal and political life.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Thursday, June 11, 2026, Shaibu defended Atiku against claims that religious differences influence his relationships or leadership style.
He argued that the former vice president’s long-standing associations with people from different backgrounds reflect a commitment to unity rather than division, insisting that religion has never determined how Atiku treats those around him.
To support his position, Shaibu cited examples from Atiku’s inner circle, noting that several people who have worked closely with him for years are Christians.
“His personal physician of over 20 years is a Christian,” Shaibu said, describing it as evidence of Atiku’s openness to people of different faiths.
He also disclosed that key members of Atiku’s household staff are Christians.
“His chief steward is a Christian,” he added.
According to Shaibu, respect for religious practices is evident within Atiku’s household.
“If you visit the Waziri first thing in the morning, he may tell you, ‘There will be no breakfast in my house until they return from church,’” he said.
Shaibu maintained that Atiku’s personal relationships and household arrangements reflect a culture of religious tolerance and inclusiveness.
