I Can’t Talk About New Elections When Our Kids Are In The Bush, We’ll Go There And Die With Them–Obi

Former presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has called for immediate and decisive measures to address Nigeria’s growing insecurity, stating that he is prepared to make personal sacrifices in the interest of the nation’s survival.

Speaking during a recent podcast interview, Obi expressed concern over the worsening security situation across the country.

He noted that the activities of kidnappers, bandits, and other armed groups have continued to threaten the safety of citizens, creating an atmosphere of fear in many communities.

According to him, the scale of the crisis has reached a point where urgent intervention can no longer be delayed.

Obi argued that the primary responsibility of leadership should be the protection of lives and property rather than political calculations or preparations for future elections.

He stressed that government officials must remain focused on restoring peace and stability, warning that continued violence and abductions pose a serious challenge to national development and unity.

The former Anambra State governor maintained that confronting insecurity requires courage, determination, and a willingness among leaders to take difficult decisions.

He said those entrusted with public office must be ready to face dangerous realities directly and demonstrate unwavering commitment to resolving the crisis.

During the interview, Obi also drew attention to the plight of citizens who have been abducted by criminal groups, particularly children reportedly being held in remote locations.

He insisted that securing their freedom should be treated as an urgent national priority.

When asked whether he would personally risk his life in the effort to restore security, Obi responded that he was willing to do so.

He emphasized that discussions about elections should not overshadow the need to rescue victims and protect vulnerable Nigerians.

He concluded by urging leaders and citizens to unite in confronting insecurity and ensuring a safer future for the country.
