Real Madrid have reportedly identified Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández as their top transfer target after ending their pursuit of Michael Olise, according to a report by Madrid Universal citing AS.
The Spanish club is said to have shifted its focus toward strengthening midfield options as manager José Mourinho plans further changes to his squad. Real Madrid believe Fernández can add creativity, control, and stability in the centre of the pitch and view him as a potential long-term leader.
Fernández has emerged as one of the most highly rated players on Madrid’s recruitment shortlist due to his technical quality and influence in midfield. Reports suggest Mourinho has played a key role in the club’s interest, viewing the Argentina international as a player capable of improving the team’s overall structure.
The midfielder is also reportedly open to the prospect of joining Real Madrid, giving the club encouragement as it considers whether to make a formal approach.
However, Chelsea are determined to retain the 25-year-old, who remains central to the club’s long-term plans under manager Xabi Alonso. Having invested heavily in Fernández, the Premier League side is expected to resist any attempts to sign him.
With Real Madrid prepared to pursue a deal reportedly valued at around £120 million, the transfer could become one of the summer’s most closely watched sagas.
