Sowore: The Same Court That Granted Him Bail Said “I Can’t Take This Anymore” And Revoked It—Adamson

Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Adeboro Adamson has defended the decision to remand politician and activist Omoyele Sowore at the Kuje Correctional Centre, arguing that the action was taken by the same court that initially granted him bail.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on June 23, 2026, Adamson responded to public criticism surrounding Sowore’s remand. He maintained that the court’s decision was based on its assessment of the activist’s conduct during the proceedings and should not be viewed as arbitrary.

According to Adamson, the trial judge had previously exercised discretion in granting bail but later determined that circumstances justified its revocation.

“The court that granted him bail initially is the same court that said, ‘Look, I can’t take this anymore,’ and revoked his bail and therefore asked him to be remanded in prison custody,” Adamson said.

The senior lawyer stressed that bail is not an absolute right and can be withdrawn if a court believes a defendant’s conduct violates its conditions or could interfere with the administration of justice.

The remarks come amid ongoing debate over Sowore’s remand, with supporters and critics offering differing views on the court’s decision and its implications for the legal process.
