“The Govt Must Go Beyond Promises & Take Decisive Action to Address the Security Challenges” – Mamza

Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza of the Catholic Diocese of Yola has called on the Federal Government to demonstrate greater political will in addressing Nigeria’s persistent security challenges, saying stronger and more decisive action is needed to protect lives and property.

According to a Nigerian Tribune report published on Sunday, June 28, 2026, Mamza made the remarks after officiating the closing Mass of the 2026 Yola Diocesan Pastoral Council in Yola, Adamawa State.

The cleric said continued incidents of kidnappings, banditry, killings, and attacks on communities have left many Nigerians living in fear and disrupted livelihoods across the country. He argued that despite repeated government assurances, there has been no significant improvement in the security situation, leading many citizens to question the commitment of those responsible for safeguarding lives and property.

“The government must go beyond promises and take decisive action to address the security challenges confronting the nation,” Mamza said.

He urged authorities to intensify efforts against insecurity, stressing that restoring peace and public safety is essential for Nigeria’s social and economic development and the well-being of its citizens.
