Atiku Alleges Plot to Keep ADC Off 2027 Ballot

Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has alleged that coordinated efforts are underway to prevent his party from participating in the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued in Abuja by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku claimed that credible information available to him indicated that elements within the ruling establishment were using political and legal means to keep the ADC off the ballot.

He alleged that the move was intended to weaken the opposition following the ADC’s emergence as a strong alternative ahead of the elections. Atiku questioned why the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would seek to frustrate the opposition if it remained confident of its public support.

The former vice president also alleged that institutions expected to remain neutral were being drawn into partisan politics through legal actions, selective administrative measures and political pressure.

He criticised the government’s focus on political survival instead of tackling inflation, insecurity, unemployment, the rising cost of living and declining purchasing power. Atiku urged the judiciary to remain independent and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, civil society organisations and the international community to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process, insisting that no intimidation or political pressure would deter the ADC or Nigerians seeking democratic change.
