Paul Namaske, Vice Principal of Government Day Secondary School, Lassa, in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, has recounted how he and other victims abducted from the school were rescued.
According to Punch, Namaske said the terrorists kidnapped him, a teacher and more than 20 students who were sitting for the National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations.
He said the abductors took the captives into a forest, where a Nigerian military aircraft later began hovering overhead as soldiers advanced toward the area.
“The terrorists took us into the bush. When a military aircraft started hovering over us, the insurgents started dispersing. While this was happening, we heard gunshots from the soldiers, so they (the terrorists) began to run,” Namaske said.
According to the vice principal, the terrorists fled in different directions as the military operation intensified, allowing soldiers to rescue him and the other captives.
