IDF Scrambles Fighter Jets After Contact Lost With Arriving Flight From Warsaw

The Israeli Air Force scrambled two fighter jets after losing contact with a commercial flight travelling from Warsaw to Tel Aviv, according to The Times of Israel on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

The incident involved a LOT Polish Airlines flight operated by Electra Airways. Flight tracking data showed the aircraft turned back along its route over the Mediterranean Sea after communication was lost.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said a “lack of contact with the aircraft” prompted the deployment of fighter jets to escort the flight while the situation was assessed.

The military later confirmed that communication had been restored and the incident was resolved without any security threat. “There is no fear of a security incident,” the IDF said.

The aircraft remained under monitoring until contact was re-established. The IDF did not explain why communication was lost or how long the disruption lasted but confirmed the matter had concluded without further concern.
