Peter Obi Releases His First Plans For Nigeria If Elected As President

Peter Obi, the candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), reflected on his commitment to Nigeria’s future.

In a Facebook post on 1st July 2026, he mentioned that when he decided to run for president, he promised to focus on unity and national transformation. He emphasized that his upcoming plans would aim to address government abuse and improve the quality of life for all Nigerians.

He highlighted that his vision is rooted in core values such as unity, inclusion, social justice, equity, and individual freedom. He stressed that every citizen should be free to pursue lawful dreams. Obi believed these principles are essential for creating a harmonious and prosperous Nigeria.

He considered human capital as the backbone of national progress, essential for daily life and economic growth. He said that these sectors need urgent and energetic reforms to prepare Nigeria’s youthful population for the future. He stressed that investing in people is key to unlocking Nigeria’s potential.

He announced that, if elected, a task force would be created to reduce the number of out-of-school children. He also emphasized the importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Obi explained that these reforms would support Nigeria’s industrialization, especially in agriculture and value addition.

Obi highlighted the need for partnerships among government, private sector, and social entrepreneurs to improve TVET institutions. He suggested that apprenticeship programs, similar to Germany’s education system, could provide practical skills to Nigerian youths.

He also pointed out the importance of addressing high unemployment by developing a skilled workforce. This, he said, is crucial for Nigeria’s shift from a consumption economy to a production-driven one.

Finally, Obi stressed the importance of character and civic education to foster trust and shared values. He believed that promoting national values would strengthen leadership and enterprise.
