World Cup 2026: Mexico May Be Your Last Game, Kane Won’t Save You – Thierry Henry Warns England

Former France striker Thierry Henry has warned England that their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign could end against Mexico if they repeat the sluggish start that nearly cost them in their 2-1 comeback victory over DR Congo.

England fell behind in the seventh minute after Brian Cipenga scored but recovered through captain Harry Kane, who struck twice to send Thomas Tuchel’s side into the Round of 16, where they will face co-hosts Mexico at the Estadio Azteca.

Mexico enter the tie in impressive form, having won all four tournament matches against South Africa, South Korea, the Czech Republic and Ecuador without conceding a goal. The hosts are also expected to benefit from the high altitude of the Azteca Stadium, which stands about 7,200 feet (2,200 metres) above sea level.

Speaking to Fox Sports, Henry warned that England may not recover from another slow start. “If they start the same way they started today at the Azteca… I don’t know if you’re going to come back against a team that still hasn’t conceded a goal,” he said.

While praising Kane’s match-winning ability, Henry cautioned that England cannot continue relying on their captain. “Harry Kane… every time it’s him saving them,” he added.
