Police have arrested two prime suspects in connection with a deadly home invasion in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) during which armed men abducted several residents and later killed some of the victims.
One of the suspects, Abubakar Saidu, alleged that a fleeing accomplice identified as Ardo carried out the killings despite his objections. Speaking to Arise TV, Saidu said, “It was Ardo who took the machete and butchered them. I was telling him not to kill them, but he did not listen to me.”
Police said the attackers destroyed security cameras before forcing their way into homes, held families hostage for several hours and abducted multiple residents. The gang initially demanded ₦15 million in ransom before reducing the amount to ₦8 million.
According to investigators, one family raised ₦4 million, but the payment did not secure the victim’s release. The victim’s body was later found near a bush, while another body was discovered beside a stream by local farmers days later. Other victims survived with life-altering injuries. Police said Ardo remains at large and efforts to apprehend him are ongoing.
