Omoyele Sowore, rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, says members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) contacted him while he was in Kuje prison after their party was deregistered.
Speaking in a video released by TV Platinum on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, Sowore recalled receiving messages from NDC members seeking his assistance following the court decision.
“While I was in prison, they were messaging me that, ‘Sowore, our party has been deregistered,'” he said.
His remarks come after the Federal High Court in Lokoja declared the registration of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) invalid ahead of the 2027 presidential election. The ruling followed a suit filed by the Peace Movement Party (PMP), which alleged that the NDC had adopted its party emblem.
Sowore did not elaborate on the assistance requested or any steps he took in response to the messages.
