Minister of State for Defence Mohammed Matawalle has said a Federal High Court judgment affirming the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) under former Senate President David Mark demonstrates President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to judicial independence.
In a statement issued on Friday in Kaduna, Matawalle said the court’s dismissal of a suit challenging the Mark-led leadership of the ADC disproved allegations that Tinubu was interfering with the judiciary or pursuing a one-party state.
He said the ruling reflected the President’s respect for due process, the rule of law and the independence of the courts, adding that Tinubu has never sought to influence politically sensitive cases despite criticism from opposition figures.
Matawalle urged Nigerians to assess judicial decisions objectively and accused some opposition politicians of promoting false narratives whenever court rulings did not favour their interests.
On security, he said the Federal Government remains committed to combating insecurity through sustained military operations. According to the minister, troops under Operation Fansan Yamma have dismantled several bandits’ camps, neutralised notorious criminal leaders and recovered communities across the North-West, while similar operations have weakened terrorists and other armed groups nationwide.
