The Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele, has questioned what he described as unequal treatment in Nigeria’s justice system, arguing that the continued detention of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, despite the pardon and rehabilitation of some former terrorists, reflects a deep injustice.
Speaking in Lagos on Friday during the public presentation of the 2026/2027 edition of Warnings to the Nations, as reported by The Sun on Sunday, July 5, 2026, Ayodele said, “Injustice remains one of the greatest impediments to Nigeria’s progress. How do we explain a situation where the government continues to pardon Boko Haram members and other terrorists while keeping Nnamdi Kanu in prison?”
He maintained that fairness and justice are essential for national unity, warning that injustice fuels political, social and economic challenges.
On the 2027 general election, Ayodele predicted the presidential race would centre on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. He advised Tinubu to be cautious of his inner circle, warning that trusted associates could weaken his re-election prospects despite expected policy adjustments ahead of the polls.
