As the political landscape begins to shift towards the 2027 general elections, a public affairs analyst, declares President Bola Tinubu’s re-election not just likely, but a near certainty, asserting that the President stands in an unassailable position, with financial control and political leverage so absolute that no viable opponent can challenge him.
According a report made by SYMFONI on Saturday, January, 2026, a Public Affairs Analyst, Akin Fapohunda during an interview, stated that President Tinubu would win because only death could take [him] from the position he was in, stating “He (Tinubu ) will win because only death can take from the position he’s in. Only death sickness. But everybody who who standing nobody standing nobody standing at all. He has all the money. So look at state. So any governor that doesn’t make it they all falling down because EFCC and then allocation under it allocation for local government state now he can do anything. So the fear of this is the is the wisdom of governors. Absolutely he will win. He will win.”
He also frames the President’s control over State allocations and the specter of anti-graft agencies like the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as tools that ensure the loyalty of Governors, stating “The fear of this is the wisdom of governors,” suggesting that political survival, not ideology, would dictate support for Tinubu.
The Public Affairs Analyst, Fapohunda went further to express frustration that the necessary national rebirth had not begun, arguing that the second term should be for building on foundations laid now, stating “We need to start on-boarding Nigeria now… he’s supposed to retire to London and even one time President.”
He also called for a fundamental restructuring of Nigeria’s governance system before 2027, advocating for a shift to a modified British parliamentary system, where elections were less costly, hyper-local, and ministers are appointed from within parliament, further arguing that such would reduce the corrupting influence of massive campaign finances and create a more accountable Government.
