Several members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State have defected to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, according to a report by Daily Post.
The defectors, mostly young people, were formally received at a reception held on Sunday. The event was attended by the NDC’s Kano State Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Yusuf Rabiu Fasaha, and the party’s House of Assembly candidate for Kumbotso, Captain Nafe.
Fasaha described the defections as evidence of the NDC’s growing appeal among young people in Kano. He assured the new members of equal opportunities within the party and encouraged them to participate actively in its programmes, decision-making processes and political activities.
Captain Nafe welcomed the defectors and urged them to mobilise support for the party in their communities. He said the NDC remains committed to youth empowerment, inclusive leadership and people-centred representation.
The new members pledged their loyalty to the NDC and vowed to work with party leaders to expand the party’s support base across Kumbotso and other parts of Kano State as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify.
