Political researcher Kunle Fagbemi has described the controversy surrounding the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) as a serious security concern, calling for the immediate suspension of President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, pending an investigation.
Speaking in a video published on the official Arise News YouTube channel on Monday, July 6, 2026, Fagbemi warned that the matter should not be treated lightly, saying, “Nothing must befall President Bola Ahmed Tinubu because this is not a trivial matter.”
He questioned how what he described as a fake agency allegedly operated from the Federal Secretariat and secured a budget allocation without attracting scrutiny from relevant authorities, including lawmakers.
Fagbemi said the incident exposed significant weaknesses in Nigeria’s security and administrative systems. He urged security agencies to review access controls at the Presidential Villa, conduct a comprehensive audit of personnel working within the State House, and ensure a transparent investigation.
He maintained that anyone found responsible should be held accountable, arguing that protecting the President is a national responsibility that transcends political interests and is essential to restoring public confidence in government institutions.
