The controversy surrounding the alleged Presidential Fiscal and Infrastructure Projects Council (PFIPC) intensified after police reportedly arrested the father of Prince Adeyemi Adeniyi, the central figure in an ongoing forgery investigation.
According to a Punch report published on Monday, July 6, 2026, police operatives visited the family’s residence in Ogbomoso, where they also allegedly arrested a family friend. The operation reportedly left Adeniyi’s elderly mother distressed and drew the attention of residents in the area.
Human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) confirmed the development and questioned the legality of the arrests. He argued that criminal responsibility is personal and should not be extended to relatives without evidence linking them to the alleged offence.
“The father has been arrested. There is no legal basis for substituted arrests. The young man has promised to show up in court, so why arrest his father?” Falana said.
The arrests have intensified public scrutiny of the investigation, with concerns raised over the procedures adopted by law enforcement. The police have continued their investigation into the alleged forgery linked to the purported council.
