Activist and social commentator Segun Awosanya, popularly known as Segalink, has criticised former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, alleging that his record as governor of Anambra State contradicts the values he now promotes.
Speaking during an interview on Vanguard News TV on Sunday, July 6, 2026, Awosanya argued that Obi’s past leadership does not align with his current public message.
“Somebody who is as divisive as that, who will bring religion—and I know it’s within his antecedent—he brought Christians against Catholics when he was governor and did a lot of things that he is preaching against today,” Awosanya said.
He alleged that Obi introduced religious divisions during his tenure as governor, arguing that political leaders should be judged by both their public statements and their record in office.
Awosanya also urged Nigerians to critically evaluate the history and conduct of political leaders rather than relying solely on campaign messages, saying consistency between past actions and present advocacy is an important measure of credibility. His remarks come amid ongoing public debate over Obi’s leadership and political influence following the 2023 presidential election.
