Ovie Success Ossai, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, has criticized former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi over a photo showing him playing tennis during a brief interaction with young athletes in Ibadan ahead of an opposition political conference.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, April 25, 2026, Ossai reacted to the image, questioning Obi’s dressing and suggesting that his public appearances were becoming increasingly focused on political image-building.
He described the scene as a deliberate attempt to attract attention ahead of the 2027 election cycle and argued that voters are now more politically aware than in previous elections.
Ossai wrote, “See wetin Peter Obi wear dey play tennis. I am really disappointed in his dressing. Peter Obi is doing content because of election. Someone should tell him that this is not 2023. Boys are now wiser now and now belong to SOFT NIGERIA.”
The photo in question was earlier reported by Vanguard Newspaper, showing Obi spending time with a group of Nigerian athletes on a sports court while awaiting the start of a political event.
The moment, captured by photographer Esther Umoh, showed the former presidential candidate greeting and conversing with the players in a relaxed atmosphere before the conference began.
Obi, who recently aligned with the African Democratic Congress, has consistently maintained that he will contest the 2027 presidential election.
He has also reiterated his intention to serve only a single four-year term if elected, framing it as part of his commitment to political stability and transition.
He has continued to emphasize key priorities such as economic restructuring, improved governance, and strengthened national security as central pillars of his political agenda.
