Labour Party National Vice Chairman (South-West), Abayomi Arabambi, says former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is, in his view, the strongest opposition candidate capable of defeating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking during an interview published on SYMFONI’s official YouTube channel on Thursday, July 9, 2026, Arabambi said, “I won’t lie to you, I have my fears because I believe Atiku is the strongest candidate who can defeat Tinubu.”
He argued that Atiku has broader electoral strength and nationwide appeal than other opposition figures, citing his support across different regions, party structures and voting history as key advantages.
Arabambi also said Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, could significantly influence voting patterns in the South but maintained that Atiku remains the opposition figure best positioned to mount a competitive national challenge against President Tinubu.
He stressed that the remarks reflected his personal political assessment of Nigeria’s electoral landscape ahead of the 2027 general election.
