Oyo: If You See the Way the Rescued Children Ate Their Food, You’ll Be Happy — Buhari

Senator Fatai Buhari, who represents Oyo North Senatorial District, says the schoolchildren rescued from the Oriire kidnapping are showing encouraging signs of recovery after their release.

Speaking in a video shared by TV Platinum on Sunday, July 12, 2026, Buhari said the children had resumed eating properly, describing it as a significant improvement from their condition immediately after they were rescued.

“They’ve taken their breakfast. They’ve taken their lunch—something they’ve not done. If you see the way they were eating the food, you’ll be happy, unlike yesterday night when I came. As a father, I was also crying when I saw them because of the age of the children,” he said.

The senator recalled being moved to tears when he first visited the victims shortly after their release, citing their young ages and the physical and emotional trauma they had endured in captivity.

Buhari said seeing the children regain their appetite and strength gave him hope for their full recovery. He added that they would continue to receive the medical care and psychological support needed as they recover from the ordeal.
