The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Musbawu Amodu, for allegedly killing his 20-year-old wife during a domestic dispute in the Angwan Yahaya community, Agyaragu, Obi Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson SP Rahman Nansel said the incident occurred on Sunday after officers from the Agyaragu Police Division responded to a distress call reporting that a woman had been fatally assaulted by her husband. The victim was taken to the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lafia, where she was confirmed dead. Her body has been deposited at the hospital for further examination.
According to police, the couple had been married for six years and had two children. During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to the crime, claiming the altercation began after his wife refused to prepare a meal, leading to a violent confrontation.
Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia for further investigation and possible prosecution. He described the incident as tragic, urged couples to resolve disputes peacefully, and assured residents that security in Agyaragu remains stable.
