Paul Ibe, Special Adviser on Media to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has dismissed claims by Nafiu Bala that he successfully uploaded candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal, arguing that the action has no legal basis.
In a statement issued on Monday, July 13, 2026, Ibe maintained that former Senate President David Mark remains the recognized National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), insisting the party cannot have two national chairmen at the same time.
“The so-called successful uploading of candidates by Nafiu Bala Gombe is neither grounded in law nor supported by INEC’s own guidelines. Nafiu Bala Gombe is not recognized as ADC Chairman. Mark is duly recognized,” Ibe stated.
He argued that any action taken by individuals not recognized by the party leadership or INEC should not be considered valid. Ibe also urged INEC Chairman to remain impartial and uphold the rule of law, warning against actions that could undermine Nigeria’s democracy or create the impression of a one-party state under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
His remarks come amid an ongoing leadership dispute within the ADC, with rival factions laying claim to the party’s leadership and authority over candidate nominations.:::
