Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) for Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, has said the nine people killed in the overnight attack on Kum Community in Riyom Local Government Area were all members of his extended family.
According to a Daily Post report published on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, Dachomo made the disclosure on Monday while officiating at the victims’ mass burial, describing the killings as another devastating tragedy for his family.
He said the latest attack was part of a series of violent incidents that have repeatedly affected both his immediate and extended family over the years. According to the cleric, the attacks intensified after he began speaking publicly about what he described as ongoing genocide in Plateau State.
Recalling previous incidents, Dachomo alleged that his grandmother was killed and mutilated, while one of his uncles was also killed in a separate attack.
“The same people killed my grandmother. They removed her heart after killing her. My uncle was also killed, and they cut out his tongue. Yet they will say I am lying about genocide. But I have forgiven them. Yes, Fulani killers, I have forgiven you for this murder of my family members,” he said.
Dachomo maintained that the repeated attacks have not deterred him from continuing to speak about the violence affecting communities in Plateau State. He said the deaths of his relatives have strengthened his resolve to draw attention to the plight of affected communities.
Despite the losses, the cleric said he has chosen forgiveness over revenge, describing the decision as one rooted in his Christian faith.
