Security consultant and public affairs analyst Darlington Umoru has paid tribute to the late Lieutenant Felix Ademe Isaac, describing the 28-year-old as a promising Nigerian Army officer whose life was cut short during the rescue operation that freed abducted schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Speaking during an interview on TVC News on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, Umoru said Lieutenant Isaac had the potential to rise through the ranks of the Nigerian Army and occupy senior leadership positions.
“A young man in his prime who would have become a General in the future,” Umoru said.
He noted that military officers undergo years of rigorous training, professional development and operational experience in preparation for greater responsibilities, adding that Lieutenant Isaac had a long and promising career ahead before he was killed in the line of duty.
Umoru said the officer’s death highlights the risks faced daily by members of the armed forces as they combat kidnapping, terrorism and other violent crimes across the country. He urged Nigerians to recognise the sacrifices of military personnel who undertake dangerous operations to protect lives and maintain national security.
Lieutenant Isaac was among the security personnel who lost their lives during the operation that secured the release of abducted pupils, teachers and a school principal in Oriire. While the rescue has been widely praised as a major success, Umoru said it also underscores the human cost of such missions.
He called for continued support for the armed forces and renewed efforts to provide security agencies with the resources, training and welfare needed to effectively carry out their responsibilities, adding that the memory of Lieutenant Isaac and other fallen personnel should inspire greater appreciation for their service.
