I Ask My Wife to Pray Tinubu Keeps Backing Me — Wike
Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike says he asks his wife to pray for President Bola Tinubu to continue supporting his administration, describing presidential backing as essential for effective governance.
Wike made the remarks on Tuesday during the inauguration of the Water Supply Network to Bwari Satellite Town in the Bwari Area Council. He disclosed that the FCT Administration has officially commissioned 50 projects and plans to inaugurate 10 more before January.
Reflecting on his experience as a former governor and minister, Wike said government officials can only perform effectively when they enjoy the president’s support.
“I tell my wife, who prays a lot, to continue praying that Mr President will not look away from us,” he said, adding that Tinubu has provided the FCT Administration with the support needed to transform the territory.
He pledged that his administration would not disappoint the president and maintained that the goal of governance is to improve the lives of citizens.

Senegalese-American singer Akon has revealed that he signed Nigerian Afrobeats star Wizkid after being introduced to him by Banky W, whom he credited with discovering the singer.
Speaking in an interview with The Shade Room, Akon dismissed claims that he discovered Wizkid, saying Banky W had already identified and developed the young artiste before introducing him.
“Banky W discovered Wizkid. He brought me Wiz, and I said, ‘This kid is a star.’ They had limited resources, so when I signed Wiz, it helped break him into the United States,” Akon said.
He also disclosed that he considered signing Canadian rapper Drake around 2008 but was unable to complete the deal because the then-emerging artiste requested a $1 million signing fee.
According to Akon, Drake’s music at the time sounded similar to Eminem’s, and by the time he released Best I Ever Had in 2009, he had become too expensive to sign.
Wizkid, born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, was signed to Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) and rose to prominence with Holla at Your Boy, released in 2010, before his debut album Superstar in 2011.
Trump Pays $5.6 Million to Writer E. Jean Carroll
U.S. President Donald Trump has paid $5.6 million to writer E. Jean Carroll after a civil jury found him liable for sexually assaulting and defaming her, according to a court filing.
Carroll’s lawyer, Roberta Kaplan, confirmed the payment, noting that the U.S. Supreme Court declined in late June to hear Trump’s appeal against the May 2023 judgment, making the verdict final.
Carroll accused Trump of sexually assaulting her in a New York department store dressing room in 1996. Trump denied the allegation, describing her claims as fabricated.
In a separate defamation case, Trump was ordered to pay Carroll $83.3 million, although enforcement of that judgment remains suspended pending further legal proceedings.
FCCPC Seals Three Milk Factories, Arrests Owner in Anambra
The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has sealed three milk production factories in Awada, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State over alleged violations of production standards.
During a raid conducted with security operatives, enforcement officers destroyed freshly produced milk and arrested the owner of the factories.
South-East Zonal Coordinator of the FCCPC, Ndidiamaka Obialor, alleged that the factories operated in unhygienic conditions, using dirty plastic bottles, untreated water and producing dairy products without proper quality control or protective equipment.
She warned that the commission would not tolerate practices that endanger public health, stressing its commitment to enforcing consumer protection laws and ensuring safe products for Nigerians.
