All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Ayekooto Akindele has criticised Nigerian rapper Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, over his remarks against First Lady Oluremi Tinubu.
Falz, during an interview on Arise Television, faulted the First Lady’s appeal to Afrobeats artistes to channel more of their wealth into charitable causes and support for small businesses.
Speaking in Lokoja, the First Lady had urged successful musicians to reduce spending on luxury cars and instead establish charity foundations to assist small-scale businesses, noting that the government was under increasing pressure.
Reacting to the appeal, Falz argued that supporting struggling citizens and businesses is primarily the responsibility of the government.
“Why asking individuals when this is actually your job to do? What do you mean by pressure on the government? Did anyone force you to take up the job?” he said.
The rapper also referenced the administration’s “Emilokan” campaign slogan, questioning why government officials were now saying the pressure of governance was overwhelming.
“From day one that you set out your political journey, this is the day you have been waiting for, so how can you come and say pressure is much on you?” he added.
Responding in a post on his official X account, Ayekooto dismissed Falz’s comments and argued that the rapper was not among those addressed by the First Lady.
“Falz, stop talking jargons. The First Lady didn’t mention your name; she knows you yourself need help due to career capsizing. She only mentioned Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy.
“So, why you’re the one replying is what I don’t understand,” Ayekooto wrote.
