Reactions as Father of Lady Who Died in Dave Umahi’s Home Refuses Autopsy, Insists on Burial

The family of 26-year-old nurse Mary Habila has asked the Ebonyi State High Court to halt the police investigation into her death and release her body for burial. In an affidavit, her father, Tanko Habila, said the family suspects no foul play, opposes an autopsy, and does not want her body or organs tampered with.

Habila, a former staff member of the David Umahi Federal University of Medical Sciences who served as Minister David Umahi’s personal nurse, died on June 27, 2026, in Uburu. Despite the family’s request, the Ebonyi State Police Command says investigations will continue after responding to the medical emergency that led to her death. The case has sparked widespread public reactions.
