Mr. Olatunde Zacchaeus, a teacher rescued after the Oriire school abduction in Oyo State, has recounted how he and another male captive regained their freedom after days in captivity.
Speaking in an interview with Nigeria Info FM, Zacchaeus said they remained blindfolded, handcuffed, and chained throughout their ordeal.
According to him, the kidnappers’ commander visited them on the day of their release in a cheerful mood and told them to thank God because they were about to be freed. He said the commander instructed them to open their eyes before the abductors removed their blindfolds, handcuffs, and leg chains and directed them to leave.
Zacchaeus added that the kidnappers repeatedly encouraged the captives to continue praying while they were being held.
His account provides fresh insight into the circumstances surrounding the release of the Oriire school abduction victims, whose ordeal has drawn widespread concern in Oyo State.
