A Governor Said He Will Not Campaign for Second Term. He Said His Work Will Campaign for Him – Abioye

Bishop David Abioye has praised a Nigerian governor who reportedly said he would not campaign for a second term, stating that his performance in office would speak for itself.

Speaking during a sermon published on his YouTube channel on Sunday, July 19, 2026, Abioye said he admired the governor’s confidence and humility, describing it as a rare example of leadership focused on service rather than self-promotion.

“I respect one of our governors who said he will not campaign for a second term. He said his work will campaign for him,” the cleric said.

Abioye contrasted such leadership with countries where citizens urge effective leaders to remain in office, while noting that in his own country, many people demand the removal of their president. He used the comparison to urge Christians, especially those in public office, to uphold integrity and accountability.

The bishop also criticized corruption among some professing Christians in government, arguing that spiritual gifts are meaningless without honesty and faithful service. He called on believers to let integrity and their actions reflect their faith.
