African Action Congress (AAC) consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 election, Omoyele Sowore, has claimed that many Nigerians avoid publicly discussing U.S. President Donald Trump because they fear it could affect their chances of obtaining American visas.
Speaking during an interview published on the PAPShow YouTube channel on Sunday, July 19, 2026, Sowore said he does not allow such concerns to influence his public comments.
“I’m the only one because a lot of people in Nigeria don’t want to talk about Trump because they’re afraid of not getting visas,” he said.
Sowore maintained that he prefers to express his opinions openly regardless of any potential consequences, arguing that concerns about future travel opportunities should not determine what people say about influential political figures.
He reiterated that, in his view, many Nigerians are reluctant to comment publicly on Trump because they worry their remarks could negatively affect future U.S. visa applications. The comments reflect Sowore’s personal opinion and were made during the interview.
