The Nigerian Army has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu of the Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps (NAOC), wanted over his alleged involvement in the illegal sale and supply of military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements.
In a statement shared on its official X account on Thursday, July 23, 2026, the Army said preliminary investigations showed that the soldier, who was serving at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, absconded from his unit on June 3, 2026.
The statement, signed by Major Oluwatope Dorcas Aluko, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations at the Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, said intensive efforts were underway to locate and apprehend Amutu for investigation and possible disciplinary action under military law.
The Army reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on misconduct, indiscipline and any act capable of compromising national security. It warned that any personnel found aiding terrorists or criminal groups through the unauthorized sale or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements or other controlled items would face the full weight of military and civil laws.
The Army also appealed to the public to provide credible information that could lead to the soldier’s arrest, reaffirming its commitment to accountability, professionalism and thorough investigation of all allegations of misconduct.
