Hon. Chinedu Obika, the lawmaker representing Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and Bwari Federal Constituency, has said the current administration has an exceptional understanding of the National Assembly because several of its top officials previously served in the legislature.
Speaking during an interview with KAATRUTH on Thursday, July 23, 2026, Obika noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a former senator and that the First Lady also previously served in the Senate. He added that Vice President Kashim Shettima is a former senator, while the President’s Chief of Staff is a former Speaker.
Obika also said the Secretary to the Government of the Federation has legislative experience, arguing that the administration’s top officials have a strong understanding of the workings of the National Assembly.
According to him, the combination of a president, first lady, vice president, chief of staff and secretary to the government with legislative backgrounds is unprecedented in Nigeria’s history, giving the administration a unique advantage in engaging effectively with the National Assembly.
