Dr. Robinson Ewor has said many Rivers residents would not have taken political risks during the state’s crisis if Governor Siminalayi Fubara had clearly communicated his position from the outset.
Speaking in a video posted by Arise News on Thursday, July 23, 2026, Ewor said elders, women and other residents supported Fubara without knowing that key concessions had already been made.
“If he tells Rivers people, this is where I stand, Rivers people won’t take the risk, all the risk they have taken,” Ewor said.
He argued that Fubara’s silence throughout the crisis left supporters defending a position the governor had already abandoned in private negotiations. According to Ewor, the lack of transparency was the administration’s biggest failure during the political standoff.
Ewor added that he was relieved Fubara had publicly confirmed his alignment with the Rainbow Coalition, describing it as a position he claimed insiders had known about for months. He said the delayed disclosure caused unnecessary hardship for residents who invested their time and political support in the governor’s cause.
