Senator Adams Oshiomhole has told the Senate that Senate President Godswill Akpabio breached an agreement they reached to end their public disagreements.
According to a video shared by Vaible TV, Oshiomhole said both men had signed a truce to avoid further hostility. However, he alleged that Akpabio later referred to a previous issue during a debate, which he believed violated their agreement.
“I want to report to this House that the Senate President and I signed a truce of no more hostility, and the Senate President breached the truce,” Oshiomhole said.
Despite expressing his disappointment, Oshiomhole said he would not revisit the matter out of respect for Akpabio, whom he described as his leader, Senate President and brother. He added that he preferred to let the issue rest in the interest of peace and urged the Senate leadership to protect all lawmakers equally, including those who are vertically challenged.
Responding, Akpabio said he did not intend to offend Oshiomhole, explaining that his earlier remarks were made while responding to another senator’s reference to a cancelled warrant of arrest. He affirmed that their truce should be respected and pledged to treat all senators fairly while ensuring respectful proceedings in the chamber.
