Lucy Nwaneniya, widow of Emmanuel Nwaneniya, has alleged that her husband was lured to a location under the guise of purchasing land before he was killed.
Speaking during an interview on Arise News on Sunday, August 2, 2026, Lucy said her husband left home on May 24 after receiving an invitation from people who claimed they wanted to sell him a piece of land. She said he had discussed the transaction with them beforehand and assured her he would return home to eat the meal she was preparing.

“On May 24th, they called him to come and buy land. He had already discussed with them before that 24th. He told me that he will come back and eat,” she said.
Lucy said she repeatedly called her husband after the food was ready, but his phone remained continuously engaged.
“When I called him to come and eat food that I had finished cooking, he didn’t answer me. They kept the phone busy. So I went there to ask what happened, I saw his dead body,” she said.
She called on security agencies to investigate the incident thoroughly and ensure those responsible are identified and brought to justice, describing the loss as devastating for her family.
