Ariana Grande Taking A Step Back From Visibility Amid Public Scrutiny

American singer Ariana Grande plans to take a break from public appearances after ending her Eternal Sunshine tour in London on September 1.

According to PEOPLE, a representative said Ariana Grande wants to step away from the spotlight and enjoy some time off after months of touring.

The decision comes as she continues to face constant public comments about her health and physical appearance.

The representative said, “Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour.”

“She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny.

“This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much.”

A source close to the singer explained that the performances are physically demanding, requiring a high level of energy and athletic ability.

She performs a very physical show, and there is a lot of athleticism involved. She performs healthily and successfully at a very high level night after night,” the source said.

Despite the challenges, Ariana Grand has continued to perform successfully throughout the tour.

The source also confirmed that the singer will no longer appear in the upcoming West End production of Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George.

The show was expected to open next summer at London’s Barbican Centre, with her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey also set to appear.

Although she will no longer be part of the production, the source said she is excited to support the team behind the project.

She cannot wait to support the brilliant team bringing this project to life,” the source told PEOPLE.

In recent years, Ariana’s appearance has often been discussed online.

The conversation grew again after the release of the music video for her new single, “Petal,” from her album of the same name, which was released on July 31.

Grande has repeatedly spoken out against people commenting on her body.

In her 2024 song “Yes, And?” she made it clear that others should stop discussing her appearance and respect her privacy.

A source described Petal as an album that reflects the difficult relationship between the singer and public opinion, saying its message focuses on dealing with negativity rather than a romantic relationship or breakup.

This album is a fight song, an anthem about the love-hate relationship with the public and their toxicity.”

“This album is not about any romantic partner or breakup in that way,” the source added.

The Eternal Sunshine tour began in June in Oakland, California, before traveling to major cities including Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York and Chicago.

After completing her U.S. shows, Grande will finish the tour with performances in London.

The tour marks her return to live performances after spending several years working on music and acting projects, including her role as Glinda in the Wicked films.

Grande is also set to return to the big screen in Focker-in-Law, the latest film in the Meet the Parents series.

The movie, which also stars Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro, is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 25.
