Primate Elijah Ayodele has claimed that President Bola Tinubu’s chances of winning the 2027 presidential election will depend largely on the opposition’s ability to unite and adopt an effective strategy.
According to a Nigerian Tribune report published on Monday, August 3, 2026, Ayodele made the remarks in a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin. He alleged that some state governors and close associates the president relies on would eventually disappoint him and fail to deliver the expected political support.
The cleric also claimed that Tinubu had been “blindfolded spiritually” and no longer had a firm grip on his administration, urging him to surround himself with trustworthy allies.
“The northerners will show themselves at the 11th hour. Even the INEC cannot give him victory,” Ayodele said.
He further alleged that relying on support from the United States and France would not determine the election’s outcome, arguing instead that spiritual factors would play a decisive role. Ayodele also claimed that many Nigerians and the North remained dissatisfied, adding that the president could only secure a second term if opposition parties failed to unite and mount an effective challenge.
