27 victims buried amidst tears

An atmosphere of profound grief descended on Naridon village in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State as 27 victims of a recent d3adly attack were laid to rest during a mass burial attended by grieving families, friends, and members of the community.

 

The victims were k!lled when suspected terrorists attacked the farming community on the Kaduna-Plateau border on Sunday, July 26, 2026. 

 

Several families reportedly lost multiple loved ones in the attack. 

 

The Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan conducted the mass burial on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

 

Three victims of the attack had been buried earlier, bringing the d8ath toll to 30. 

 

Photos from the mass burial showed rows of caskets placed side by side. 

 

Bishop of Kafanchan Diocese, Most Rev. Julius Yakubu Kundi, said the victims were failed by those responsible for protecting them.

Addressing mourners, Bishop Kundi said the decision to line up the coffin side by side was deliberate, describing it as a reminder of the scale of the tragedy and the need to protect innocent lives.

 

“I deliberately asked for the coffins to be lined up like this so it will be evidence for us and all of Nigeria that we failed to protect them. They should not have d!ed now,” the Bishop said. 

 

He expressed sympathy to the bereaved families, particularly parents who lost children and loved ones, describing their grief as profound.
