Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) should have considered handing its presidential and vice-presidential tickets to him and Peter Obi during their time in the party.
Kwankwaso made the remark in a video shared on his official X account on Thursday, June 11, 2026, while reflecting on his experience in the ADC and the movement of political supporters between parties.
According to the former governor, several concerns were raised by him and Obi while they were members of the ADC, but those issues were not addressed by the party leadership.
He argued that their entry into the ADC significantly boosted the party’s popularity and attracted many supporters. Kwankwaso added that a similar trend occurred when they later left the party for the NDC.
Speaking on why the ADC should have considered offering them its top tickets, he said:
“What is wrong in telling us to take the tickets? When we moved to ADC, everybody was moving to the ADC. When we left the ADC and moved to the NDC, the people moved and they are still moving.”
Kwankwaso maintained that the party should have recognized the political reality on the ground and acted accordingly.
“So, if they had known the realities and they wanted to go by them, maybe they would have initiated that ADC should give us the tickets,” he added.
His comments come amid ongoing political realignments and preparations by parties and key political figures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
