Take it to Edo State, we don’t want you here – Arewa Youth President warns VDM amid Abuja protest

The President of the Arewa Youths, Yerima Shettima, has warned social media activist VeryDarkMan over the ongoing protests he is leading in Abuja.

In a video circulating online, Shettima accused the activist of previously insulting Northerners and urged him to move the protest to Edo State rather than continue in Northern Nigeria.

“Before I come back to Abuja, VeryDarkMan, you should relocate your protest to Edo State. I am not in Abuja. VeryDarkMan, this message is for you and your sponsors. Relocate your protest to Edo State before I come back to Abuja,” he said.

Shettima argued that recent gains recorded by security agencies in tackling insecurity should not be undermined by protests capable of creating tension in the North.

He also said Northern youths were prepared to defend the region and would resist any action they believe could destabilise the area.

“We are not scared of you. Let me tell you, VeryDarkMan, you and whoever is supporting you, we the Northern Nigerians are ready. We are ready to protect the North. Relocate your protest back to Edo State.

“There’s insecurity in Edo State, so go there and lead your protest. Don’t start that in Abuja. This is a warning to you,” he added.

The warning comes after VeryDarkMan returned from China and began protests in Abuja over bad governance and the recent wave of kidnappings across the country. He is also demanding the immediate rescue of abducted school victims in Oyo State.

The remarks have generated mixed reactions online.
