National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has called on party leaders to rein in their supporters and prevent actions capable of causing division within the party.
According to a report by DAILY POST on Friday, June 12, 2026, Dickson made the appeal during an NDC stakeholders’ meeting held in Abuja on Thursday.
The former Bayelsa State governor expressed concern over what he described as attempts by some individuals to portray the party negatively. He said the NDC leadership had worked to accommodate all members and build a united platform ahead of future elections.
Dickson stressed that mutual respect and cooperation were essential to the party’s success, adding that the leadership had given full backing to the party’s flag bearers and expected members to support them.
“We accepted them as partners and agreed to build this platform together; They are our flag bearers, and we will support them through the elections to provide Nigerians with the leadership they deserve,” he said.
He questioned why some supporters continued to attack the party despite efforts made to accommodate different interests within the organization.
Dickson also warned that the NDC would not tolerate attempts to damage the reputation of its members, insisting that unity and discipline must remain the foundation of the party’s growth.
He urged party chieftains to take responsibility for the conduct of their supporters and ensure that internal disagreements do not undermine the party’s objectives
