A woman featured in a viral assault video from Abia State has alleged that she was attacked after rejecting a man’s offer of N50,000 in exchange for a sexual relationship.
The woman, identified as Amarachi Chinyere, made the claim in a video shared by human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu. According to her, the suspect, Agwu Ukpo, approached her with the proposal, which she declined because she is married.
“One day, that boy asked me, he say he wan f**k me. I tell am say no. He say he go give me N50,000. I tell am no, say I don marry,” she said.
Amarachi alleged that tensions between them escalated after the rejection. She claimed the suspect later poured away a pot of soup she had prepared, leading to a series of disputes involving his brother, Obinna.
According to her account, the conflict eventually turned violent after the suspect accused her of insulting him. She alleged that he repeatedly struck her during an altercation, leaving her with injuries that required medical treatment.
Demanding justice, Amarachi called for the suspect’s prosecution and reimbursement of her medical expenses.
The incident sparked widespread outrage after footage of the alleged assault circulated online. The Abia State Police Command confirmed the arrest of 37-year-old Agwu Ukpo, who is under investigation and could face charges including assault and attempted murder, depending on the outcome of the case.
