‘A Man Who Said to 250M Nigerians, “It’s My Turn,” You’ll Think He Will Tackle All Problems’ — Ahmed

Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying the high expectations surrounding his presidency have not translated into meaningful progress on Nigeria’s economic and security challenges.

Speaking on Channels Television on Friday, June 26, 2026, Baba-Ahmed said Tinubu’s long-standing ambition to become president led many Nigerians to expect bold reforms and decisive leadership.

“A man who is so ambitious, who says, ‘It’s my turn.’ Hey Nigerians, 250 million of you all move aside, it’s my turn. You would think he will come to power and actually tackle some of the most fundamental problems of this country,” he said.

Baba-Ahmed argued that insecurity, unemployment, and the high cost of living remain unresolved nearly three years into the administration. He said Nigerians expected solutions rather than excuses and urged the government to prioritize policies that improve citizens’ lives.

According to him, leadership should be measured by its ability to solve problems, restore public confidence, and deliver hope, security, jobs, and economic stability. He added that the administration must demonstrate greater urgency and produce tangible results before the next general election.
