Amarachi Chinyere, a resident of Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, has alleged that a dispute which led to an assault involving 37-year-old Agwu Ukpo stemmed from her repeated rejection of his sexual advances.
Speaking in a video shared by human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu, Amarachi claimed the suspect had repeatedly sought a sexual relationship with her despite knowing she was married. She alleged that he later offered her N50,000 in an attempt to persuade her.
“One day, that boy, Ukpo, asked me if he wanted to have sex with me, and I said no. Then he said he was going to give me N50,000. I told him no, that I am already married. He said he would treat me well, but I still told him no,” she said.
According to Amarachi, the repeated proposals created tension between them and contributed to a deteriorating relationship. She claimed the hostility eventually escalated during an argument involving a pot of soup, leading to the confrontation that has drawn widespread public attention.
The case gained further prominence after the Abia State Police Command confirmed the arrest of Ukpo over his alleged involvement in the incident. Police authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the matter.
The incident has sparked debate on social media, with many calling for a thorough and impartial investigation.
